Confucius
Trust as the load-bearing survivability variable, the rectification of names, harmony-not-uniformity; the Mandate's conditionality kept, its cosmology declined.
Edition read. The Analects, Books I–XX, six thematic close-reads (Legge translation).
What we took
The register's virtue-and-legitimacy tradition — the internal-state variables the structural mechanics rest on. The flagship is the rectification of names: if the categories a state governs by drift from the truth of things, sensing, correction, and justice all fail and the public can no longer act — the doctrine's own definitional-integrity discipline. Trust is the load-bearing axis, shed last of all; harmony is a concord of differences, so a suspiciously uniform value-reading is a monoculture signature; and the evasion theorem warns that a pure sensor-and-sanction regime trains gaming, so every coercive backstop must be paired with meaning-axis cultivation.
Where we diverge — and how we answer
Confucius locates order in a sage's radiating virtue and grounds it in the Mandate of Heaven; the doctrine keeps the conditionality (a governance that lets its people fall into want forfeits its warrant) but relocates the cause to an impersonal rule-bound corrector and the source to the declared vote — a silent Heaven issues no mandate. The one technocratic line — that the people may be made to follow but not to understand — is refused, and refuted from Confucius's own words.
The net position
The register's deepest source on the internal-state variables — trust, shame, concord — absorbed as substrate and sensor discipline, disciplined at the personalism and the metaphysics.
Every position is read at the source. See the whole register on Lineage & Critique, or the doctrine itself in The System.
